Unexpectedly! Again!

Here’s the priceless headline from Bloomberg News: “Initial Jobless Claims in U.S. Unexpectedly Increased Last Week.” Unexpectedly! As I noted in my May 28 Examiner column and in Beltway Confidential, bad economic news always seem to come in “unexpectedly” or to be “unexpected.” Which leads me to ask: at what point do the supposed experts start expecting bad economic news? You’d think they might be after the last two weeks.
